I was unsure of how to go about this, and felt totally inadequate—I was scared to death, if you want the truth of it—and so nothing I said could have impressed you or anyone else. But the Message came through anyway. God’s Spirit and God’s power did it, which made it clear that your life of faith is a response to God’s power, not to some fancy mental or emotional footwork by me or anyone else.

We, of course, have plenty of wisdom to pass on to you once you get your feet on firm spiritual ground, but it’s not popular wisdom, the fashionable wisdom of high-priced experts that will be out-of-date in a year or so. God’s wisdom is something mysterious that goes deep into the interior of his purposes. You don’t find it lying around on the surface. It’s not the latest message, but more like the oldest—what God determined as the way to bring out his best in us, long before we ever arrived on the scene. The experts of our day haven’t a clue about what this eternal plan is. If they had, they wouldn’t have killed the Master of the God-designed life on a cross. That’s why we have this Scripture text:

No one’s ever seen or heard anything like this,
Never so much as imagined anything quite like it—
What God has arranged for those who love him.
But you’ve seen and heard it because God by his Spirit has brought it all out into the open before you.

The Spirit, not content to flit around on the surface, dives into the depths of God, and brings out what God planned all along. Who ever knows what you’re thinking and planning except you yourself? The same with God—except that he not only knows what he’s thinking, but he lets us in on it. God offers a full report on the gifts of life and salvation that he is giving us. We don’t have to rely on the world’s guesses and opinions. We didn’t learn this by reading books or going to school; we learned it from God, who taught us person-to-person through Jesus, and we’re passing it on to you in the same firsthand, personal way.

The unspiritual self, just as it is by nature, can’t receive the gifts of God’s Spirit. There’s no capacity for them. They seem like so much silliness. Spirit can be known only by spirit—God’s Spirit and our spirits in open communion. Spiritually alive, we have access to everything God’s Spirit is doing, and can’t be judged by unspiritual critics. Isaiah’s question, “Is there anyone around who knows God’s Spirit, anyone who knows what he is doing?” has been answered: Christ knows, and we have Christ’s Spirit.

The Spirit of God, the Master, is on me because God anointed me.
He sent me to preach good news to the poor,
heal the heartbroken,
Announce freedom to all captives,
pardon all prisoners.
God sent me to announce the year of his grace—
a celebration of God’s destruction of our enemies—
and to comfort all who mourn,
To care for the needs of all who mourn in Zion,
give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes,
Messages of joy instead of news of doom,
a praising heart instead of a languid spirit.
Rename them “Oaks of Righteousness”
planted by God to display his glory.
They’ll rebuild the old ruins,
raise a new city out of the wreckage.
They’ll start over on the ruined cities,
take the rubble left behind and make it new.
You’ll hire outsiders to herd your flocks
and foreigners to work your fields,
But you’ll have the title “Priests of God,”
honored as ministers of our God.
You’ll feast on the bounty of nations,
you’ll bask in their glory.
Because you got a double dose of trouble
and more than your share of contempt,
Your inheritance in the land will be doubled
and your joy go on forever.

“Because I, God, love fair dealing
and hate thievery and crime,
I’ll pay your wages on time and in full,
and establish my eternal covenant with you.
Your descendants will become well-known all over.
Your children in foreign countries
Will be recognized at once
as the people I have blessed.”

I will sing for joy in God,
explode in praise from deep in my soul!
He dressed me up in a suit of salvation,
he outfitted me in a robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom who puts on a tuxedo
and a bride a jeweled tiara.
For as the earth bursts with spring wildflowers,
and as a garden cascades with blossoms,
So the Master, God, brings righteousness into full bloom
and puts praise on display before the nations.

When Jesus finished placing this charge before his twelve disciples, he went on to teach and preach in their villages.

John, meanwhile, had been locked up in prison. When he got wind of what Jesus was doing, he sent his own disciples to ask, “Are you the One we’ve been expecting, or are we still waiting?” Jesus told them, “Go back and tell John what’s going on:

The blind see,
The lame walk,
Lepers are cleansed,
The deaf hear,
The dead are raised,
The wretched of the earth learn that God is on their side.
“Is this what you were expecting? Then count yourselves most blessed!”

When John’s disciples left to report, Jesus started talking to the crowd about John. “What did you expect when you went out to see him in the wild? A weekend camper? Hardly. What then? A sheik in silk pajamas? Not in the wilderness, not by a long shot. What then? A prophet? That’s right, a prophet! Probably the best prophet you’ll ever hear. He is the prophet that Malachi announced when he wrote, ‘I’m sending my prophet ahead of you, to make the road smooth for you.’

“Let me tell you what’s going on here: No one in history surpasses John the Baptizer; but in the kingdom he prepared you for, the lowliest person is ahead of him. For a long time now people have tried to force themselves into God’s kingdom. But if you read the books of the Prophets and God’s Law closely, you will see them culminate in John, teaming up with him in preparing the way for the Messiah of the kingdom. Looked at in this way, John is the ‘Elijah’ you’ve all been expecting to arrive and introduce the Messiah.

“Are you listening to me? Really listening?

“How can I account for this generation? The people have been like spoiled children whining to their parents, ‘We wanted to skip rope, and you were always too tired; we wanted to talk, but you were always too busy.’ John came fasting and they called him crazy. I came feasting and they called me a lush, a friend of the riffraff. Opinion polls don’t count for much, do they? The proof of the pudding is in the eating.”

There are so many other things Jesus did. If they were all written down, each of them, one by one, I can’t imagine a world big enough to hold such a library of books.

Still later, as the Eleven were eating supper, he appeared and took them to task most severely for their stubborn unbelief, refusing to believe those who had seen him raised up. Then he said, “Go into the world. Go everywhere and announce the Message of God’s good news to one and all. Whoever believes and is baptized is saved; whoever refuses to believe is damned.

“These are some of the signs that will accompany believers: They will throw out demons in my name, they will speak in new tongues, they will take snakes in their hands, they will drink poison and not be hurt, they will lay hands on the sick and make them well.”

Then the Master Jesus, after briefing them, was taken up to heaven, and he sat down beside God in the place of honor. And the disciples went everywhere preaching, the Master working right with them, validating the Message with indisputable evidence.

From the very first day, we were there, taking it all in—we heard it with our own ears, saw it with our own eyes, verified it with our own hands. The Word of Life appeared right before our eyes; we saw it happen! And now we’re telling you in most sober prose that what we witnessed was, incredibly, this: The infinite Life of God himself took shape before us.

We saw it, we heard it, and now we’re telling you so you can experience it along with us, this experience of communion with the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. Our motive for writing is simply this: We want you to enjoy this, too. Your joy will double our joy!
This, in essence, is the message we heard from Christ and are passing on to you: God is light, pure light; there’s not a trace of darkness in him

The Word was first,
the Word present to God,
God present to the Word.
The Word was God,
in readiness for God from day one.

Everything was created through him;
nothing—not one thing!—
came into being without him.
What came into existence was Life,
and the Life was Light to live by.
The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness;
the darkness couldn’t put it out.

There once was a man, his name John, sent by God to point out the way to the Life-Light. He came to show everyone where to look, who to believe in. John was not himself the Light; he was there to show the way to the Light.

The Life-Light was the real thing:
Every person entering Life
he brings into Light.
He was in the world,
the world was there through him,
and yet the world didn’t even notice.
He came to his own people,
but they didn’t want him.
But whoever did want him,
who believed he was who he claimed
and would do what he said,
He made to be their true selves,
their child-of-God selves.
These are the God-begotten,
not blood-begotten,
not flesh-begotten,
not sex-begotten.

The Word became flesh and blood,
and moved into the neighborhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes,
the one-of-a-kind glory,
like Father, like Son,
Generous inside and out,
true from start to finish.

John pointed him out and called, “This is the One! The One I told you was coming after me but in fact was ahead of me. He has always been ahead of me, has always had the first word.”

We all live off his generous bounty,
gift after gift after gift.
We got the basics from Moses,
and then this exuberant giving and receiving,
This endless knowing and understanding—
all this came through Jesus, the Messiah.
No one has ever seen God,
not so much as a glimpse.
This one-of-a-kind God-Expression,
who exists at the very heart of the Father,
has made him plain as day.

Jesus realized that the Pharisees were keeping count of the baptisms that he and John performed (although his disciples, not Jesus, did the actual baptizing). They had posted the score that Jesus was ahead, turning him and John into rivals in the eyes of the people. So Jesus left the Judean countryside and went back to Galilee.

To get there, he had to pass through Samaria. He came into Sychar, a Samaritan village that bordered the field Jacob had given his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was still there. Jesus, worn out by the trip, sat down at the well. It was noon.

A woman, a Samaritan, came to draw water. Jesus said, “Would you give me a drink of water?” (His disciples had gone to the village to buy food for lunch.)

The Samaritan woman, taken aback, asked, “How come you, a Jew, are asking me, a Samaritan woman, for a drink?” (Jews in those days wouldn’t be caught dead talking to Samaritans.)

Jesus answered, “If you knew the generosity of God and who I am, you would be asking me for a drink, and I would give you fresh, living water.”

The woman said, “Sir, you don’t even have a bucket to draw with, and this well is deep. So how are you going to get this ‘living water’? Are you a better man than our ancestor Jacob, who dug this well and drank from it, he and his sons and livestock, and passed it down to us?”

Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again. Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst—not ever. The water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life.”

The woman said, “Sir, give me this water so I won’t ever get thirsty, won’t ever have to come back to this well again!”

He said, “Go call your husband and then come back.”

“I have no husband,” she said.

“That’s nicely put: ‘I have no husband.’ You’ve had five husbands, and the man you’re living with now isn’t even your husband. You spoke the truth there, sure enough.”

“Oh, so you’re a prophet! Well, tell me this: Our ancestors worshiped God at this mountain, but you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place for worship, right?”

“Believe me, woman, the time is coming when you Samaritans will worship the Father neither here at this mountain nor there in Jerusalem. You worship guessing in the dark; we Jews worship in the clear light of day. God’s way of salvation is made available through the Jews. But the time is coming—it has, in fact, come—when what you’re called will not matter and where you go to worship will not matter.

“It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.”

The woman said, “I don’t know about that. I do know that the Messiah is coming. When he arrives, we’ll get the whole story.”

“I am he,” said Jesus. “You don’t have to wait any longer or look any further.”

Just then his disciples came back. They were shocked. They couldn’t believe he was talking with that kind of a woman. No one said what they were all thinking, but their faces showed it.

The woman took the hint and left. In her confusion she left her water pot. Back in the village she told the people, “Come see a man who knew all about the things I did, who knows me inside and out. Do you think this could be the Messiah?” And they went out to see for themselves.

When the Feast of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Without warning there was a sound like a strong wind, gale force—no one could tell where it came from. It filled the whole building. Then, like a wildfire, the Holy Spirit spread through their ranks, and they started speaking in a number of different languages as the Spirit prompted them.

There were many Jews staying in Jerusalem just then, devout pilgrims from all over the world. When they heard the sound, they came on the run. Then when they heard, one after another, their own mother tongues being spoken, they were thunderstruck. They couldn’t for the life of them figure out what was going on, and kept saying, “Aren’t these all Galileans? How come we’re hearing them talk in our various mother tongues?

Parthians, Medes, and Elamites;
Visitors from Mesopotamia, Judea, and Cappadocia,
Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia,
Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene;
Immigrants from Rome, both Jews and proselytes;
Even Cretans and Arabs!
“They’re speaking our languages, describing God’s mighty works!”

Their heads were spinning; they couldn’t make head or tail of any of it. They talked back and forth, confused: “What’s going on here?”

Others joked, “They’re drunk on cheap wine.”

That’s when Peter stood up and, backed by the other eleven, spoke out with bold urgency: “Fellow Jews, all of you who are visiting Jerusalem, listen carefully and get this story straight. These people aren’t drunk as some of you suspect. They haven’t had time to get drunk—it’s only nine o’clock in the morning. This is what the prophet Joel announced would happen:

“In the Last Days,” God says,
“I will pour out my Spirit
on every kind of people:
Your sons will prophesy,
also your daughters;
Your young men will see visions,
your old men dream dreams.
When the time comes,
I’ll pour out my Spirit
On those who serve me, men and women both,
and they’ll prophesy.
I’ll set wonders in the sky above
and signs on the earth below,
Blood and fire and billowing smoke,
the sun turning black and the moon blood-red,
Before the Day of the Lord arrives,
the Day tremendous and marvelous;
And whoever calls out for help
to me, God, will be saved.”

“Fellow Israelites, listen carefully to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man thoroughly accredited by God to you—the miracles and wonders and signs that God did through him are common knowledge—this Jesus, following the deliberate and well-thought-out plan of God, was betrayed by men who took the law into their own hands, and was handed over to you. And you pinned him to a cross and killed him. But God untied the death ropes and raised him up. Death was no match for him. David said it all:

I saw God before me for all time.
Nothing can shake me; he’s right by my side.
I’m glad from the inside out, ecstatic;
I’ve pitched my tent in the land of hope.
I know you’ll never dump me in Hades;
I’ll never even smell the stench of death.
You’ve got my feet on the life-path,
with your face shining sun-joy all around.

“Dear friends, let me be completely frank with you. Our ancestor David is dead and buried—his tomb is in plain sight today. But being also a prophet and knowing that God had solemnly sworn that a descendant of his would rule his kingdom, seeing far ahead, he talked of the resurrection of the Messiah—’no trip to Hades, no stench of death.’ This Jesus, God raised up. And every one of us here is a witness to it. Then, raised to the heights at the right hand of God and receiving the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, he poured out the Spirit he had just received. That is what you see and hear. For David himself did not ascend to heaven, but he did say,

God said to my Master, “Sit at my right hand
Until I make your enemies a stool for resting your feet.”
“All Israel, then, know this: There’s no longer room for doubt—God made him Master and Messiah, this Jesus whom you killed on a cross.”

Cut to the quick, those who were there listening asked Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers! Brothers! So now what do we do?”

Peter said, “Change your life. Turn to God and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, so your sins are forgiven. Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is targeted to you and your children, but also to all who are far away—whomever, in fact, our Master God invites.”

He went on in this vein for a long time, urging them over and over, “Get out while you can; get out of this sick and stupid culture!”

That day about three thousand took him at his word, were baptized and were signed up. They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers.

Everyone around was in awe—all those wonders and signs done through the apostles! And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common. They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person’s need was met.

They followed a daily discipline of worship in the Temple followed by meals at home, every meal a celebration, exuberant and joyful, as they praised God. People in general liked what they saw. Every day their number grew as God added those who were saved.

Everyone I meet—it matters little whether they’re mannered or rude, smart or simple—deepens my sense of interdependence and obligation. And that’s why I can’t wait to get to you in Rome, preaching this wonderful good news of God.

It’s news I’m most proud to proclaim, this extraordinary Message of God’s powerful plan to rescue everyone who trusts him, starting with Jews and then right on to everyone else! God’s way of putting people right shows up in the acts of faith, confirming what Scripture has said all along: “The person in right standing before God by trusting him really lives.”

But God’s angry displeasure erupts as acts of human mistrust and wrongdoing and lying accumulate, as people try to put a shroud over truth. But the basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your eyes and there it is! By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can’t see: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being. So nobody has a good excuse. What happened was this: People knew God perfectly well, but when they didn’t treat him like God, refusing to worship him, they trivialized themselves into silliness and confusion so that there was neither sense nor direction left in their lives. They pretended to know it all, but were illiterate regarding life. They traded the glory of God who holds the whole world in his hands for cheap figurines you can buy at any roadside stand.

So God said, in effect, “If that’s what you want, that’s what you get.” It wasn’t long before they were living in a pigpen, smeared with filth, filthy inside and out. And all this because they traded the true God for a fake god, and worshiped the god they made instead of the God who made them—the God we bless, the God who blesses us. Oh, yes!

Worse followed. Refusing to know God, they soon didn’t know how to be human either—women didn’t know how to be women, men didn’t know how to be men. Sexually confused, they abused and defiled one another, women with women, men with men—all lust, no love. And then they paid for it, oh, how they paid for it—emptied of God and love, godless and loveless wretches.

Since they didn’t bother to acknowledge God, God quit bothering them and let them run loose. And then all hell broke loose: rampant evil, grabbing and grasping, vicious backstabbing. They made life hell on earth with their envy, wanton killing, bickering, and cheating. Look at them: mean-spirited, venomous, fork-tongued God-bashers. Bullies, swaggerers, insufferable windbags! They keep inventing new ways of wrecking lives. They ditch their parents when they get in the way. Stupid, slimy, cruel, cold-blooded. And it’s not as if they don’t know better. They know perfectly well they’re spitting in God’s face. And they don’t care—worse, they hand out prizes to those who do the worst things best!

Unlike your ancestors, you didn’t come to Mount Sinai—all that volcanic blaze and earthshaking rumble—to hear God speak. The earsplitting words and soul-shaking message terrified them and they begged him to stop. When they heard the words—”If an animal touches the Mountain, it’s as good as dead”—they were afraid to move. Even Moses was terrified.

No, that’s not your experience at all. You’ve come to Mount Zion, the city where the living God resides. The invisible Jerusalem is populated by throngs of festive angels and Christian citizens. It is the city where God is Judge, with judgments that make us just. You’ve come to Jesus, who presents us with a new covenant, a fresh charter from God. He is the Mediator of this covenant. The murder of Jesus, unlike Abel’s—a homicide that cried out for vengeance—became a proclamation of grace.

So don’t turn a deaf ear to these gracious words. If those who ignored earthly warnings didn’t get away with it, what will happen to us if we turn our backs on heavenly warnings? His voice that time shook the earth to its foundations; this time—he’s told us this quite plainly—he’ll also rock the heavens: “One last shaking, from top to bottom, stem to stern.” The phrase “one last shaking” means a thorough housecleaning, getting rid of all the historical and religious junk so that the unshakable essentials stand clear and uncluttered.

Do you see what we’ve got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander. He’s actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and he won’t quit until it’s all cleansed.

God himself is Fire!

That same day two of them were walking to the village Emmaus, about seven miles out of Jerusalem. They were deep in conversation, going over all these things that had happened. In the middle of their talk and questions, Jesus came up and walked along with them. But they were not able to recognize who he was.

He asked, “What’s this you’re discussing so intently as you walk along?”

They just stood there, long-faced, like they had lost their best friend. Then one of them, his name was Cleopas, said, “Are you the only one in Jerusalem who hasn’t heard what’s happened during the last few days?”

He said, “What has happened?”

They said, “The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene. He was a man of God, a prophet, dynamic in work and word, blessed by both God and all the people. Then our high priests and leaders betrayed him, got him sentenced to death, and crucified him. And we had our hopes up that he was the One, the One about to deliver Israel. And it is now the third day since it happened. But now some of our women have completely confused us. Early this morning they were at the tomb and couldn’t find his body. They came back with the story that they had seen a vision of angels who said he was alive. Some of our friends went off to the tomb to check and found it empty just as the women said, but they didn’t see Jesus.”

Let me let you into a little secret.

The most important message of the Bible is not “God created…”

The Bible is focussed on one individual and that is not you or I. The Bible is as Jesus said, all about me. That’s right the Bible is all about Jesus. Now Nature (The Visible Universe) or Supernature (The invisible Universe) are full of mystery and magic, but neither of them can “hold a candle” to the Lord Jesus Christ. He pre-existed. That’s right. Jesus was there before Nature and Supernature came about.

Up until the time that Jesus came here our picture of him was like a Jigsaw Puzzle and the pieces were getting clearer but only those who took the time to really look beyond Nature and Supernature actually got a piece here and a piece there, so it looked a little like this…

So in effect what Jesus did, was to complete the puzzle. It sure was a puzzle this puzzle with pieces all over the world and the Universe and certainly there are many pieces , and anyone reading the Old Testament, or for that matter any writing, artwork, poem etc..etc.. only held in their gaze or minds pieces of a puzzle that were completed in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

I wrote a song about the two men who met Jesus on the road to Emmaus, and along the way he opened up to them certain scrolls. It is actually quite specific. He opened up Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms…and what did he show them. Himself.

It is hard to understand this, in our Modern Age where people are still looking at Nature and Supernature and cannot see Jesus. Why ? Because our perception can only be opened by Jesus. I know that is hard to accept, but many people have tried to put the puzzle together on their own for centuries, but unless they get ALL the pieces in the right place, the picture will only be a guess….like a person looking at shadows…

Many a very learned person has been looking through their telescopes and their microscopes and even with the help of friends and reading and researching and studying…., and even reading the Bible…but still have still not been able to see the complete puzzle … they cannot see or hear Jesus.

The secrets of the Kingdom are given to children and to those who come to Jesus like a child. As long as you are buiding your paper walls, or in the case of the Internet, you cyber walls…you will not see what the little girl Akiane sees…or what others hear and see…it’s your time to learn to see and hear beyond the Natural and Supernatural…are you ready ?

Of course he would be angry at the religious authority who abused his power for evil purposes. Maybe this is why Dawkins is so adamant in his opposition to religious belief. However, making up the obviously failed hypothesis that religious instruction amounts to child abuse is not going to convince any except the extremely naive. Scientific data shows that teaching children the moral principles of religion has a positive impact on their behavior, as would be expected intuitively.’

Some thoughts of my own…

I must admit I was saddened to see “Growing Up In The Universe” by Professor Richard Dawkins. Has the man turned into Ebenezer Scrooge ?
My own father who said “Humbug” to me when I was ‘born of the Spirit’ @ 18 kept “Christmas”, but knowing my mother’s love and comprehension of us children and the tenderness of her spirit, who would never have destroyed the need for suprise in our tiny bosoms, which she showered liberally on us and our children; would have been the only reason he kept it. For like Professor “Scrooge” Dawkins, he might as well have not been there, for with all his learning he could not see the significance of the tree, or the presents that lay around the foot of the tree. He could not see “Jesus” But then neither could I. I was raised to believe that Christmas was about natural things. However, if I had got the DVD “Growing Up In The Universe” it would have been given a tag and placed alongside all the other wrappings; read for scrunching and eventually the bin.

I think it is appropriate get us in the right spirit for this event and ignore “shake off” old Scrooge who has nothing on his mind but putting another best-seller on the shelves (to line his pocket with gold ) which amounts to nothing more than another “Humbug”. Shame on you Professor Dawkins, you just lost any respect I might have had left for you. I know if my mother was here she would have said to me, “Just leave him alone” but I think even “Scrooges” need to watch this movie and think again … before attempting to “steal Christ-mas”…

Tales of A Forgotten Time

Traditionally Christianity has simple words in English to describe really complex operations of our whole being. In some ways they are useful and in other ways that lead to endless arguments and discussions that end up getting nowhere and ending in misconceptions.

For example; the recent “blaps” of Clinton Richard Dawkins in this book “The GOD delusion”, which he has quickly eclipsed with a new book. However as I am a lover of YHVH or the GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, I am not going to allow this bat to flap away. Firstly, for the following comment and secondly for his shoddy treatment of the arguments for the existence of GOD. < read Dr. W.L. Craig's response to Prof. CR Dawkins' central argument of his book TGD.

I think part of the reason why men and woman make these sort of statements is because like King Herod, they become filled up with their own sense of importance and begin to embrace they ideas that somehow they are superior. I think the description that Clinton “Richard” Dawkins uses for GOD might have been fitted some of the tyrants of our time.

I must be perfectly honest with you. When I began doing the whole FORUM bit, I had to face a man like this, a fire breather. He was convinced that the God of the Old Testament was a MONSTER…I was afraid to reply for I had read the OLD TESTAMENT…and assembled and opinion that was pretty close to that…but it was only once I put all my preconceptions to one side and began reading from GENESIS all the way to REVELATION that I began to understand [YHVH] — I am still a member of that FORUM…and I returned some time later and found that my friend who was all a fire breathing dragon…had softened and had found that there was much more to the STORY that needed to be explored before one just started firing off SALVOS in the name of NATURALISM, ATHEISM and or BIOLOGY…LOL…Hey we all have to start somewhere…even Professors..LOL…so let’s see how the naughty schoolboy got his kicks….

When I was looking around for this quote, and it is certainly a keeper and I am sure will be the subject of many sermons in the future, I discovered the anti-thesis, or should I say the accurate thesis presented by someone from the Ning Social Network, which goes like this….

“The God of the New Testament is arguably the most sacrificial of religious founders; impartial and proud of it; a religious-hypocrisy intolerant; an ardent, prayer-engrossed temple cleanser; a women-dignifying, child-elevating, enemy-loving, torturer-forgiving, disease-healing, soul-saving, life-giving, death-conquering, sin-paying liberator” ( J.C. Lamont ) < click on quote to read more.

Let's move on.

Now you can see how a simple word like GOD, or G_d (out of respect to those Jewish readers who love YHVH. So do I! ) can be incorrectly defined.
However, it is not just the problem of getting a definition of the word, but it is being able to receive what has been revealed in the OLD TESTAMENT and THE NEW TESTAMENT.
Firstly it is a progressive, divine revelation of THE PLAN OF GOD to redeem mankind through the redemptive work of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. When CLD (Dawkins) starts with GOD, he begins in deep water, or should I say he begins eating meat, before he has even tasted the milk. He is a baby in the woods, trying to make a fire, and he is suffering the results of his silliness. But forget about him now.

The elementary teachings of the Gospel are where any young believer needs to start. Of course, on needs to be born of the Spirit, before one starts with the elementary stuff. It is spiritual food, and for that one needs to be spirtually alive to GOD.
The elementary teachings of GOD are actually part and parcel of the Judaism, at least as in the letter to the Hebrews.

Hebrews 6, presents us with these elementary foundations to a faith that is settled already upon THE FOUNDATION, namely JESUS CHRIST. Without these foundations one cannot even begin to chew BIG MEATY studies about the Doctrine of GOD, or the doctrine of MAN. However, they do give one a good grounding in truth, that will then help one to grasp the revelation of Scripture. This spiritual understanding, is of such a nature that if those who had crucified the SON OF GOD had embraced it as Nicodemus did, they would have not crucified the Prince of Life.

There are a few words in the first two doctrines, namely 'repentance' and 'dead works' as well as 'faith' and the one that CLD did not seem to get 'G_d'

The doctrines themselves deal with HUGE preconceptions about what TRUE CHRISTIANITY IS and IS NOT.
The Christian does not offer blood sacrifices but puts his trust in the ONE SACRIFICE, and no more blood needs to be shed. FOR IT WAS ONCE FOR ALL. The religion that goes on sacrificing is dead. It ended physically in 70AD, but the actual end happened on the day that Jesus died. Rather than spend many blogs breaking down what these two are about, here are two links to two discussions I had on Theology Web Campus about them.

The sourse material for these studies was from Derek Prince Ministries, part of a series that I received AFTER the FOUDATION had been laid. (They are in the Theology Section, so they are not thesis – antithesis, though there is a fair amount of ribbing!!! The latter seemed to go better than the first one.)

It has been my observation on Forums over the years, that these elementary doctrines are challenged by unbelievers and those caught up in cults and the occult. They cannot control themselves for these elementary ideas are the food of babes and being yet unborn of the Spirit, they gnash their teeth against them. Much like CLD has done above.

Now to Nirvikalpa Samadhi.

Why?

Well, we are still looking at the primary simple words used in these first principles of YHVH, namely "repentance" "dead works" "faith" and "GOD"… I am only interested in one word, when I think of Nirvikalpa Samadhi. The word is FAITH.

What is FAITH ?

I have been greatly tickled over the years at the sorts of responses that have been on public forums. Everyone these days has an opinion. Most of it runs like this, 'Faith' is the place where reason cannot go. Sort of a magical bridge to YHVH, which has nothing to do with reason.

Let's read think about this… faith is…

"..the total response of man's moral being.."

"intuition"

"conscience, the distinction between right and wrong"

"small voice of the heart within"

"categorical imperative" ie. direct, unreasoned, and disinterested command.

"moral sense"

“a disinterested preference for what is morally good, without selfish interest and without the expectation of gain”

“the will to believe”

They certainly do stretch our thinking to embrace a more wholistic approach to the simple English word, ‘F A I T H’…or Forsaking All I Trust Him, but such silliness is to go backwards instead of forwards and here is a quote from Lin Yutang’s book that led me straight to Nirvikalpa Samadhi, oddly enough an idea with only produced one link on my gOOgle…LOL.

“This is the stupendous fact about man and his spiritual development and his striving after [YHVH]. It is NOT “faith”; it is NOT A CONTRADICTION OF REASON; it is merely a HEALTHY INSTINCT. It is the [YHVH] GIVEN MORAL SENSE.”

and he continues….

“It is man’s total response to the Universe through his moral nature. IT IS NOT THE ANTITHESIS OF REASON; it is THE HIGHER REASON!!!”

and goes on to end this line of thought by saying…

“It is SAMADHI OF ZEN BUDDHISTS, ………THE FLASH OF INSIGHT INTO THE REAL THING-IN-ITSELF”

and finally ends by adding…

“And this residual area of knowledge happens to be THE MOST SIGNIFICANT area of HUMAN KNOWLEDGE and of moral consciousness, in which [YHVH], the SOUL, and IMMORTALITY and MAN’S WHOLE MORAL BEING ARE ALL INVOLVED.”

I can hear the words of Jesus, “You say Lord, Lord…(even devils do) …but you do not the things that I asked you to do…visit those in prison, feed the hungry, …”

It is small wonder that skeptic shout angrily at religion, when much of the time, the word ‘FAITH’ means sitting in a pew and singing hymns to Santa Claus. When Jesus said “BELIEVE IN ME”, it was linked to “do as I do” and “love one another” and “love thy neighbour”…One has to remember the first principle……

Repent (Change your mind) away from ‘Dead Works’ (your own attempts at clambering up the religious ladder of doing good deeds to outweigh your bad deeds) ….and added to that… Jesus’ words…”REPENT, for the KINGDOM OF …[who?] ….the Kingdom that is in you…needs a KING….that is what is real FAITH…when the Spirit of Jesus Christ is IN YOU. GOD IN US…hey we don’t walk around saying…I AM YHVH…but we are come into SONSHIP..and DAUGHTERSHIP…and that is why I agree with Lin Yutang, that what FAITH is, is not an escape from REASON, it is to take into oneself the MIND OF CHRIST, HIS SPIRIT IN US…and that is LIFE and LIFE MORE ABUNDANTLY…and we the communicate with HIS MIND…and our minds become FRUITFUL…not the way FAITH is understood to be an escape…ie. RELIGION…faith is NOT RELIGION, it is US THINKING GOD’S THOUGHTS ALONG WITH HIM….

Like I said to an young borrowed faith wanna-be CLD nOOb atheist who was out to demolish [YHVH] with all the eagerness of his evangelical mentor..CLD.. Before you get into THEOLOGY, you need to take and essential step… He ignored me and eventually the question was pressed, howbeit indirectly…and I answered…Step 2. Study about YHVH…Step 1. Get to know [YHVH] ..he ignored me and and carried on arguing and arguing…and getting more and more angry…just like old professor CLD…raging against preconceptions about [YHVH] ..we have all been there …some stayed and never got past their preconceptions…embracing their small man ways..others got tall and saw over the wall…that though their were giants, there was also bounteousness beyond description.

I shall now sit quietly and contemplate the LORD…will you join me ?

‘Sometimes late at night when I’m all by myself, thinking that here we are on the threshhold of the greatest breakthrough of all time — the creation of the theory of the Universe — I say to myself “Wow, maybe it’s all wrong. Maybe we Physicists don’t know what the hell we are talking about.”
The String theory maybe a theory of NOTHING, rather than a theory of EVERYTHING, that’s the rub.
String theory has not arbitrary perimeters you can play with. You can’t tweak it, you can’t modify it; therefore if you solve it, either it’s the entire Universe or it’s NOTHING AT ALL___
When I write symbols and letters on the blackboard and I play with them in my head, I ask myself a question that Einstein asked himself in the morning..

“If I’m going to create a Universe, if I am GOD how would I create this Universe ?” (Albert Einstein)

..and then I start to play with certain equations, and then I begin to realize …………and I say to myself, ‘if I’m God I don’t want to live in a Universe this,’ and I scratch this out and I say, ‘It can’t be right it’s too awkward, it’s too clumsy, that’s not the way I would create a Universe if I am God’
The nature of existence, the nature of reality, the secret of the Universe should be expressed in an equation 1 inch long and I want to find it…”
